Olympic Handball Primary Schools Programme

Olympic Handball Primary School Competition 2024/2025! 

The OHI All-Ireland Primary Schools’ Competition runs from September – April with categories to suit different age groups. Group matches are played within counties, with County winners moving through to Provincial, and then All-Ireland finals. 

Registration for schools in “active” counties is open now. If your school is not in an active county (see list below) please submit an expression of interest form and a member of the OHI team will get back to you.

 Categories are:

  • Minis Boys & Girls (previously U11) – 3rd & 4th Class (ROI) – Year 5, Year 6 & Year 7 (NI)

  • Infants Boys & Girls (previously U13) – 5th & 6th Class (ROI) – Year 7 & Year 8 (Secondary School) (NI)

Primary School Competition Regulation 24/25

 How does it work? 

  1. Register your team(s)! Registration is open until the 4th of October (extended!)
  2. After registrations are closed, OHI will allocate schools into groups within their county, for Group Stage matches. Schools will then have until the 20th December to play of their Group Stage matches.
  3. Group Stage winners will progress to County Finals in January and February (organised by OHI).
  4. County winners then play in Provincial Finals, also organised by OHI. These matches usually take place in March.
  5. Provincial Final winners then qualify for the ALL-IRELAND finals that take place in April, when our champions are crowned! Finals are organised by OHI and this year, will be held at Gormanston College in Co. Meath.
